About me

About the name of "Yauga"

My name is Michelle Yau, I am the founder of Yauga Yoga. I am of Chinese & Vietnamese descent. "Yauga" is inspired by my daughter using my surname. It also means Yauga Yoga is different from what the market provides which is "Yauga" style.

I got the yoga teaching qualification from Rishikesh of India. This is the sacred place to where Yoga originated from. I stayed there for months to learn how to teach Yoga. I am keen on teaching small group classes and private classes because I want to take care of each student practicing yoga safely and share what the benefits for those yoga practice (I mean not only practice yoga poses). On the other hand, I want to make people to be true self, mindful and well-balanced.

Mission and vision

Mission and vision

I would like to share my yoga knowledge to those people who are interested in Yoga world. There is a common misunderstanding in practicing yoga, in which it is body gets into the pose. It is one of the reasons we get hurt during practice. Nevertheless, yoga is not only to practice asana (yoga poses), but also practice pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation and a lots philosophy from Yoga Sutras such as Yama, Niyama...etc.

On the other hand, we know there are many benefits practicing yoga: Sense of Consciousness, Mindfulness, Calmness and so on. It is also a great tool to introduce to our kids. With integrated yoga games & stories, in allows them to understand and control their emotions and behavior. It connects their response to their inner self according to different age groups of the kids. Ultimately, our kids become more peaceful, responsible, wholesome and mentally stronger adults.
